I love linguistics! I am a natural descriptivist, most of the time. But I hate the media framing of a debate between descriptivists and prescriptivists, and I have my take on it here, in Why I Won’t Correct You’re Grammar (unless you ask). Basically, I argue that both descriptivism and prescriptivism have their place in different contexts (and most social interactions are not that place).
